Healing From Trauma with Integrative Humanistic Counselling

Trauma affects every part of who you are – emotionally, psychologically, and even physically. If you're reading this, it’s possible that you’ve experienced something difficult, something that has left a mark on your life. And while that journey is deeply personal, I want you to know you're not alone.

As an integrative humanistic counsellor, my role is to meet you where you are and support you with empathy, respect, and a deep commitment to your well-being. My approach blends different therapeutic techniques, always grounded in the core principles of humanistic therapy: empathy, unconditional positive regard, and a profound respect for your autonomy.

Above all, creating a safe, non-judgemental space for you to be yourself is my top priority. Trauma can make you feel isolated, misunderstood, or unsafe in your own world. I want you to know that no matter what you're experiencing, I am here to accept you exactly as you are, without judgment, and to help you feel heard, seen, and validated.

Healing Starts with Compassionate Care

Trauma often brings feelings of shame, guilt, fear, and powerlessness. It can feel overwhelming, like you’re not in control. But I truly believe that when we begin the journey to healing with genuine care and compassionate empathy, it can be the first step toward finding peace and regaining a sense of control over your life.

Together, we will work at your pace to explore your unique experiences. Every person’s trauma is different, and so is the healing process. By understanding how your past has shaped who you are today, we can begin to uncover the emotional weight you carry. My approach is flexible, and we’ll tailor our work together to meet your individual needs.

A Personalised Approach to Healing

My integrative approach means we have the freedom to draw on various therapeutic methods, depending on what resonates most with you. For some, creative therapies like art, journaling, or guided visualisation can provide a safe outlet to express emotions that words alone can’t capture. For others, we might integrate cognitive-based therapy or other methods to support your healing journey.

This flexible, personalised approach allows us to not only process your trauma but also gain new insights and understanding. We can work together to externalise your feelings, helping you explore and reflect on experiences in ways that open new doors for healing.

Reconnecting the Mind and Body

I believe that trauma impacts not only the mind but also the body. You may be living with physical symptoms like chronic tension, disrupted sleep, or even a sense of dissociation. In our work together, we won’t just focus on your emotional or cognitive experiences; we’ll also take time to address the physical aspects of your trauma.

Working with your somatic experiences — the sensations in your body — can be incredibly powerful. It’s often a way to reconnect with your body, especially if you’ve felt disconnected or numb due to past trauma. I will gently guide you through this process, only when you feel ready, at your own pace. This process can help release emotional material that may be trapped in the body, supporting you on your journey toward healing.

Healing at Your Own Pace

Trauma healing is not a race, and it’s not linear. Your journey is as unique as you are. We will go at a pace that feels right for you, working together to identify your strengths and unlock your potential for growth. I want you to feel empowered — to take conscious steps toward healing and to make informed choices about your emotional well-being.

Over time, we’ll explore your values, core beliefs, strengths, and passions, reconnecting you with your authentic self. You are so much more than the trauma you’ve experienced, and our work together will focus on rediscovering what brings meaning and purpose to your life.

You Are Stronger Than You Know

Trauma can leave us feeling broken, but it’s important to acknowledge the resilience and strength that you have developed through your experiences. Within our work, we’ll focus not only on healing the wounds but also on empowering you to recognise the wisdom, growth, and strength you already carry within you.

Healing from trauma is a journey, and it’s one that takes time. But you don’t have to walk it alone. I’m here to support you every step of the way.
