Change Begins Within

I'm Emma Maree, an integrative humanistic counsellor. I work in Billingshurst, and offer counselling in-person within the Horsham and West Sussex area. I work online and via telephone to anywhere in the UK.

I offer a warm, non-judgemental space for adults and young people (16+) to explore their feelings. With creative therapy and CBT informed options available, I'm here to support your journey.

Compassionate counselling in a gentle space for healing and growth

Life can be full of challenges, and it's perfectly natural to seek support when things get tough. As your counsellor, I'm here to offer you a comfortable, confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment.

I can also offer online and telephone counselling to anywhere in the UK.

My approach is all about walking beside you on your journey of self-discovery. Together, we'll gently unpack what's troubling you, helping you gain fresh perspectives and perhaps discover new aspects of yourself along the way.

I believe that you're the expert on your own life. I'm here to support you as you find your own path forward, making choices that feel right for you.

I work with people from all walks of life, each with their unique stories and challenges. As a qualified humanistic counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I'm committed to providing ethical, compassionate care.

Whether you would like in-person sessions in Billingshurst West Sussex or online and telephone sessions from anywhere in the UK, I can help you find comfort.

Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, loss, or just feeling a bit lost, I'm here to listen and support you. Let's take this journey together, at your pace, in a way that feels comfortable for you.

A Safe Space to Talk

In our counselling sessions, you'll find a warm, confidential environment where you can speak freely without fear of judgment. I'm here to listen with empathy and understanding, helping you unpack your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. Whether you're grappling with anxiety, relationship issues, or just feeling a bit lost, this is your space to explore and express yourself openly.

The Power of Sharing

Talking through your challenges can be incredibly healing. As we work together, you might find new perspectives on old problems, or discover strengths you didn't know you had. Counselling offers you tools to better understand yourself and your reactions, helping you navigate life's ups and downs with more confidence. Remember, seeking support isn't a sign of weakness - it's a brave step towards growth and self-care.

Embracing Creative Therapy

Sometimes, words alone aren't enough to express what we're feeling. That's where creative therapy comes in. I occasionally offer various creative tools - like sand trays, art materials, or visualisation techniques - as another way to explore your inner world. Don't worry, it's not about artistic skill! It's about the process of creating and what it can reveal. Many find this approach opens up new avenues for self-discovery and healing, often in surprising and profound ways.

Issues I Can Help With

Life throws many challenges our way, and sometimes we need a little extra support to navigate them.

In my practice, I've worked with a wide range of concerns. Whether you're dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, bereavement, trauma, CPTSD, low self-esteem, sexuality or relationship difficulties, I'm here to help. I also have experience supporting those coping with loss, and general life transitions.

Remember, no issue is too big or small - if it matters to you, it matters in our sessions. Together, we'll work through your unique situation, helping you find clarity and develop coping strategies that work for you.

The Quiet Griefs: Exploring Loss Beyond Bereavement Through Humanistic Therapy

Loss is an inevitable part of life. We often associate it with the death of a loved one and the grief that follows, the aching absence, the memories that cling. But as I’ve walked alongside clients in my work as a counsellor, I’ve come to witness just how many other, quieter griefs live within us. Loss doesn’t always announce itself loudly. Sometimes, it lingers in the small, unseen corners of our lives.

We lose in so many ways.

The beloved pet who was more family than animal — their absence leaving a quiet house and a quieter heart. The end of a relationship, whether through a breakup or divorce, can unravel not just shared plans, but the very sense of who we thought we were. Losing a job doesn’t only take away financial security; it often strips away identity, purpose, routine, and connection... Read more...
